Sustainable Leadership
- How
sustainable is your leadership? How do sustain yourself?
- How
does your organization create sustainable leaders and teams?
Everyone is a leader—possibilities are unlimited
Believing that everyone is a leader in their lives, ACI recognizes
the importance of being able to sustain that leadership. ACI
believes so strongly in the power, challenge and importance of
sustainability that ACI has developed, and continues to improve a model
and tools to work with clients to serve their sustainability.
How often do you see this happen, or even experience it?
A
leader who is doing a fabulous job at work burns out or loses the
passion after holding a hard focus on career and professional
achievement.
Or,
a leader, so focused on work and the bottom line, wakes up one day
to find that personal relationships have degenerated and that
valuable sources of support are gone?
Or,
a leader completes an incredibly successful project at the expense
of health and self-care and loses significant energy, a healthy body
or even worse.
Or,
a leader who simply loses the "fire" and passion to lead,
and forgets the "why" of leadership?
Creating sustainable leadership
ACI considers what is possible through creating
sustainable leadership as opposed to what is evident when people
don't.
What is possible when:
Leaders
attend to their self-care and health, while creating quality and
full engagement in key areas of their lives and developing the
competencies and skills needed to create the leadership and impact
People
stay conscious of what they want to create in their lives, and then
do it through self leadership?
Individuals
communicate skillfully and develop allies, partners and
relationships that will serve their leadership?
Imagine a culture
It is possible to create sustainable leadership—a culture where
everyone is a leader in their life, full of vitality and energy to
lead and create the changes they want to see. Imagine:
A
world of aliveness and consciousness where people are engaged in
activities and projects that not only fill them up, but serve their
organizations as well.
Every
individual coming home at the end of their day, still full of
aliveness, and "well used", with the energy and presence
to be with their family and friends.
An
organization where everyone comes to work excited to be there, full
of energy and able to work productively and cohesively with their
team.
Creating sustainable leadership means people are challenged and
championed every day in their lives: at home, at work and in their
community, not only by their peers, but also self-challenged.
Burnout and "shut down" are not issues; flow, ease,
self-care, sustainability, fun and vibrancy are the positive,
life-giving energies driving the culture.
